MI!! Yea!
Hi Leslie,
Where are you in MI? We are also in MI (Detroit area) and have just begun our road to understanding TJEDRefers generally to the concepts presented in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, written by Dr. Oliver DeMille. We also have an Introduction to Thomas Jefferson Education available elsewhere on this site.. My kids are older, I have 3 girls and 2 boys. 15, 12, 9, 6 & 5. It would be nice to have someone to chat with close about thoughts and ideas on this way of educating.

Hello and welcome! :-)
I always sorta envy those of you who can start out from the very beginning with the TJEdRefers generally to the concepts presented in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, written by Dr. Oliver DeMille. By the way, my children are all girls ages 13, 9 and 5, and we are in southern Utah.

Thanks for the welcomes! I am reading the tjedRefers generally to the concepts presented in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, written by Dr. Oliver DeMille. We also have an Introduction to Thomas Jefferson Education available elsewhere on this site. book now and find myself nodding my head through most of it. When we decided to home school, I leaned toward unschooling, but i, as the parent, needed more guidance. I was at a small conference and heard some one speak about the tjedRefers generally to the concepts presented in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, written by Dr. Oliver DeMille. We also have an Introduction to Thomas Jefferson Education available elsewhere on this site. and how it worked. I really agreed with most of what was said and felt like this was our path! It was great. Now we are just getting started and boy do i realize how the schools failed me. I am glad that there is an emphasis on the parents/mentors to keep educating themselves also, that this road of life is a learning one. I am excited to jump in the readings and participating in the discussions. My husband has agreed to do the readings with me; i think this will be beneficial to us both.

Welcome!
We're glad you're here. Look through the archives of this site; there is a lot of insight. It has helped me tremendously to talk with other homeschoolers and with other TJEDers, including those who are not homeschooling. My older children are taking college courses online at home, which is very conveyor belt, except that they chose what courses to take. My younger children are doing TJEDRefers generally to the concepts presented in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, written by Dr. Oliver DeMille.
