Mentor Your Child with Purpose

A powerful coaching and content system to raise mission-driven leaders from your own home or homeschool co-op.

What Is YSS?

The Young Statesmen/Stateswomen Society (YSS) is a weekly rhythm of curated content, mentor coaching, and phase-optimized tools to help children ages 6–14 grow in learning, leadership, character, and service.

Designed to be flexible and inspiring, it works in a home setting, small co-op, or full club format. (Special perks and support are available for club leaders to foster your success!)

The YSS Binder is a powerful tool—but there’s no pressure to do it all at once. In the beginning, many families simply use it to record projects, books, and experiences related to the Medallion Goal Areas. This builds a habit of noticing and celebrating meaningful learning.

As your child is ready, you can grow in the process of intentional planning and accountability that lead to a Transition to Scholar Phase.

YSS is fun, flexible, meaningful and effective — and it grows with your family!

Your Weekly Rhythm

  • Monday – Discover: Start the week with a short, heartfelt video introducing the theme, plus a curated list of meaningful projects to explore at your own pace.
  • Wednesday – Explore: Deepen the theme with hands-on projects, family discussion prompts, and optional rabbit trails—designed to spark interest, build momentum, and create meaningful connection.
  • Friday – Coach & Prepare: Parents receive debriefing and additional helps to mentor the past week’s theme, targeted coaching to develop as a mentor, plus guidance and preparation for the coming week.
  • Discussion & Support: A private online forum, personally moderated by Rachel DeMille, is always available to share your victories, ask and answer questions, and workshop challenges and projects.
  • Monthly Online Meetup: Every month you can join Emma and Rachel for “Prisms,” where the students share their progress and achievements, and to discuss the YSS Book Club selection.

Build Real Momentum with Medallion Goals

The Medallion Goal Areas are a fun way to recognize and celebrate meaningful learning, and the YSS Binder is a powerful tool in the process. At first, many families simply capture a record of what naturally happens—projects, books, and experiences. Later, as children move toward the Transition to Scholar, they can begin to set intentional goals and work toward earning a medallion for each area. This gentle, flexible approach grows with your family and encourages ownership, accountability and scholarship in due time. The YSS Overview details the Medallion Projects we cover in the Medallion areas listed below:

  • Lamp of Learning

  • Outstanding Citizen

  • Georgic Freedom

  • Family & Spiritual Values

  • Leadership Excellence

  • Hands in Service

More reviews from YSS Families

“YSS is now a doable, actionable, exciting program in our home giving my 8, 10 and 13-year-old direction AND ownership of their learning pursuits…
This Week in History + YSS combo has been the magic ingredient of Love of Learning in our home.
Thank you TJEd team! This has surpassed all my expectations.”

“Oh, man, I am loving YSS! It was exactly what I needed for the next step in our family…
Now there is just enough structure to inspire me to individualize my children’s education and help them really own their learning.
Love love love the forum!!!”

“It has been amazing! The first week was all about conflict resolution and love languages—exactly what we needed.
My 10-year-old, who has ALWAYS fought me on writing, hand wrote 4 pages himself in one week!
YSS has truly been a blessing for us.”

“It has been an answer to prayer… The content is so relevant, fun and engaging but still totally manageable.
Our favorite part is the Hero Projects—doing them as a family has created meaningful discussions and inspired even my husband!
I feel so equipped and grateful.”
